Rate schedule under review

Only Ontario, British Columbia and Manitoba have been verified against the official schedule. Quebec brackets are indexed annually, Nova Scotia's deed transfer tax is set municipally, and the registration-fee jurisdictions (AB, SK, NL, NT, NU, YT) are seeded from general reference and must be confirmed before launch.

Transfer tax rates and rebate programs change, and eligibility rules for first-time buyer relief are set by each jurisdiction. Confirm with your real estate lawyer before relying on these figures. Common questions

Does Toronto charge its own land transfer tax?
Yes. Toronto's Municipal Land Transfer Tax is charged in addition to Ontario's provincial tax, effectively doubling the bill on most homes. Toronto also has its own first-time buyer rebate of up to $4,475, separate from Ontario's $4,000.
Do all provinces charge land transfer tax?
No. Alberta, Saskatchewan and the territories charge land title registration fees rather than a transfer tax, which are far smaller. This calculator labels the charge accurately for each jurisdiction.
